Hope for a little changeAn open letter to our product and service representatives
Evoke would like to begin a new practice regarding the visits of product or service representatives to our office. Although it is never something we expect, there is a trend in our industry of bringing treats and goodies along with new information while calling on an A&D firm. We are all experiencing hard times with lower sales, less building, and less work altogether. Imagine what these added pressures are imposing on people in Minnesota who were already struggling to keep a roof over their head and meet the basic needs of their families. According to a 2006 study of the state of hunger in Minnesota conducted by the Emergency Food shelf Network, 56% of the visitors to food shelves are families with children, and 60% are “working poor.” We are willing to bet that percentage has increased. Most of you have probably heard about the organization, Hope for the City. Since 2000, this incredible community partner has helped to increase the distribution capabilities by about 30% of over 300 non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities area. They organize food, essential hygiene items, and medical supplies (and equipment) to supplement food shelves, soup kitchens, afterschool programs and medical relief programs across the state as well as overseas. We would like to help them in their fight. What are we asking of you? It is our hope that we can make a small difference for others less able to weather this storm than ourselves. Thanks for your time and we look forward to seeing you soon, Alyssa and Elisabeth
